Bliss Childcare and Nursery School ltd opened in September 2019 in the former Southfields Methodist Church. We are conveniently located only a 10 minute walk from Wimbledon park and Earlsfield train stations and 15 minute walk from Southfields train station.
At Bliss we believe that children are the future and that’s why our nursery gives our children the opportunities to become confident little learners. Bliss is brought to you by a team of childcare experts who have collectively been in the childcare industry for 40+ years and are parents themselves. At Bliss we believe that children learn through play with the support of strong and capable practitioners.
"The children get taken on outings regularly, she’s encouraged to be independent and meeting all her milestones at an amazing pace. We are updated with all the lovely activities she does during the day with pictures and videos. The staff make a lot of effort with parents daily and organise events such as Mother’s Day social, Easter bonnet parade and parent stay and play. The children are provided with fresh healthy meals cooked on-site every day."
Our philosophy is built around four core values: Kindness, Independence, Diversity and Curiosity. These values are embedded throughout everything we do and guide the experiences we provide every day.
Kindness - we teach children that kindness matters. From learning to share, take turns and help others, to understanding how our words and actions can make someone feel that children are encouraged to show care, respect and empathy. We model kindness every day and celebrate those little moments when children comfort a friend, help someone, include others or simply say “thank you” and “please.”
Independence - We want children to leave nursery feeling “I can do it!” We encourage children to have a go for themselves, make choices, solve simple problems and take responsibility for age-appropriate tasks. This may include dressing themselves, looking after their belongings, tidying up, washing their hands, helping at mealtimes and making decisions during play. We don't always step in straight away. Instead, we give children the time, encouragement and confidence to try, make mistakes and try again.
Diversity - We celebrate that every person is unique. Children are introduced to different cultures, families, traditions, languages, abilities, celebrations and ways of life through books, music, stories, food, resources and everyday conversations. We encourage children to be curious about differences while learning that everyone deserves to be respected, valued and included. Our aim is to help children understand that the world is full of wonderful differences and that there is a place for everyone in our community.
Curiosity - We want children to leave nursery with a desire to ask questions, investigate, discover and understand the world around them. We follow children's interests and encourage them to explore through hands-on experiences, outdoor learning, experiments, stories, creative activities, nature and imaginative play. Rather than always giving children the answer, we encourage them to wonder: “What do you think?” “What might happen?” “Why?” Every day at nursery is an opportunity to build the foundations for life beyond our setting. Our children learn how to communicate, listen, cooperate, care for others, respect differences, make choices, solve problems, manage their emotions and become increasingly independent.
Our greatest hope is that when children leave us, they take with them more than knowledge. We want them to leave with kind hearts, confident minds, curious spirits and the skills to make a positive contribution to the world around them. We are not simply preparing children for school – we are helping prepare them for life.

Keeping every child safe
As a nursery we have created a safe environment for all. We completing daily risk assessments and welcome our housekeeper who keeps maintains health and hygiene across all areas of the nursey. We comply with all legislation and guidance on infection control and illness, within an Early Years setting. On site, we have several trained head First Aiders, Fire Marshalls and Safeguarding Officers, to ensure the highest standards.
